Motorola has officially unveiled the Motorola Edge 70 Pro on April 22, positioning it as a performance-driven mid-premium smartphone ahead of its first sale on April 29. The headline feature is a 6500mAh silicon-carbon battery, paired with 90W fast charging. Motorola claims extended usage times across video playback, gaming, and social media though as always, such figures tend to represent ideal conditions rather than real-world mixed usage. The device sports a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness rated at 5200 nits. While this puts it among the brighter panels in its segment, peak brightness numbers are typically limited to HDR bursts, not sustained everyday visibility. Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset, coupled with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. This setup should deliver strong multitasking and gaming performance, though it doesn’t quite compete with flagship-tier processors. On the camera front, Motorola keeps things relatively straightforward with a dual 50MP setup covering primary and ultra-wide shooting. The camera system supports 4K video recording and standard AI enhancements, but lacks the multi-focal versatility seen in camera-focused rivals. Durability is a notable highlight, with IP68/IP69 ratings and MIL-STD certification, indicating resistance to dust, water, and harsh conditions features still uncommon in this price category. The phone runs Android 16 out of the box, with Motorola promising up to three years of OS upgrades a commitment that trails behind some competitors offering longer support cycles
